Being pregnant for the first time is already overwhelming, add onto that the bagillion products people say you "need", and you've reached information overload. So today, I'm excited to share the essentials from the shop that I ACTUALLY used with my newborn babe. If you are anything like me, you don't want to buy more than you need for the newborn stage, which can make creating your baby registry extra overwhelming. The good news is that I literally just went through all of this and recorded EXACTLY what I used from the shop for the first few months and what I think you will ACTUALLY need when your bundle of joy arrives. So, register for these items and if you don't receive them all, don't freak. We offer 2-3 day shipping if you are in a pinch once your babe arrives. ;)
We love theSparrow Crib by Oeuf, sustainably made from birch wood and non-toxic, water-based finishes and free of VOC health hazards. BONUS: It converts to a toddler bed with theOeuf conversion kit.
Our babies sleep on a mattress for 10-14 hours or more a day, during their most fragile developmental years. With each sleep they are lying directly on the mattress, breathing in and absorbing the chemical off-gassing produced by the majority of mattresses. Switching to an organic or natural mattress is an easy way to reduce chemical exposure. Read more about why you should opt for an organic mattress here >
Poop happens, so finding a safe and cute changing basket to complete your nursery is essential. We also realize that our babes won't need diapers forever, so we love the idea of purchasing a basket that we can use as a toy or linen bin after diaper days.
Although you may want to, you can't hold your baby all day long, so we recommend investing in a chemical-free place for your babe to hang all day. Not only is this baby lounger beautiful, but it is safe and easy to pack.
The earlier you start hat training your babe the better chance you have of them actually rocking a hat in life. We loved Petite Soul bonnets because they were soft and wrapped around her tiny head nicely and James Street Port Beanie because who wouldn't want to turn their newborn babe into a cute little Wes Anderson inspired babe. BONUS: Bonnets & hats keep your babe's bald head warm.
kimono onesies or anything that is easy to put over your babes head is going to be your BFF. You won't want to pull anything tight over your babe's head. Our bodysuits are all super stretchy and take your baby's head size into account.
The cutest and most affordable way to jazz up those newborn bodysuits. You can not have enough of these. They also make for quick and easy diaper changes. BONUS: leggings are stretchy and fit for a super long time. You are going to get a ton of use out of these(promise!)
Babies are going to spend a lot of time sleeping, so opt for sleepers made with organic materials. We love footie sleepers because they keep your babies tiny little feet warm all night long without any compression around their ankles. Footie sleepers will not fit as long, so have a good mix of footie sleepers and regular sleepers. BONUS: Our sleepers are made from GOTS certified organic pima cotton waffle fabric. They are hypoallergenic & super breathable.
Not only will your baby sleep swaddled every night, but these have a thousand uses: stroller covers, breastfeeding covers, blanket, and even a burp cloth. We recommend 4-6, but you seriously can't have too many.
